The heat resisting adhesive is used to fix SMDs tightly, before they are soldered to the PCBA. Keeping the exact positioning during the creation of the solder joints in the oven is done by sticking the body of the component to the board beyond the unit with the help of the SMD glue. After the process of soldering was done, the connection between component and board is tightened by the glue, too.
