Board underheater unit features extremely thin design |
The very compact Hot Plate 04 delivers rapid temperature ramps and high performance |
| German rework specialist company MARTIN GmbH has developed a novel programmable underheater. The Hot Plate 04 is a temperature-controlled heating plate for board assembly undersides and for the preheating of devices and RF components as well. The ergonomically designed rework heating plate supports the manual soldering process, and is also of great assistance in lead-free applications, for reflow procedures of single-sided board assemblies. The plate design features an extremely thin unit construction with a height of only 4 cm. An outstanding characteristic is the extraordinarily fast heating speed of 1.5 °C/sec up to a maximum of 270 °C.

Intelligently engineered unit concept |
Hot Plate 04, sister model of the thousandfold proven underheater Hot Beam 03, is the ideal addition to the MARTIN product portfolio of soldering systems and tools with its technologically well-engineered detail solutions. The Hot Plate 04 unit supplies high thermal performance even for thermally demanding board assemblies, as it features automated temperature control. Therefore, even in these critical cases the temperature at the soldering tip can be remarkably lower than with other solutions. The display in the user-friendly menu control shows the rework operator the exact preset temperature and the heating time as well. The maximum time of application is astonishingly high. The underside heater provides reliable soldering results at up to 8 hours of operation within a temperature range from 50 to 260 °C. Despite its compact ergonomic size the Hot Plate 04 offers with 700 W heating power an optimum solution.

Less space needed - a plus for work safety |
Manual soldering operations require compact tool sizes. Usually, users do not have a lot of workspace. Because of its ideal dimensions of only 14 x 29 x 4 cm the underheater is smaller than a sheet of A4 paper. The heating plate provides a working area of 12.5 x 11.5 cm. The dimensions of the reworked board can however be much larger, since for manual soldering only certain sections of the board have to be heated up. As an option, the user can connect a blower module to the unit for controlled cooling ramps.

Low cost and ease of use |
The MARTIN company does not only develop systems and tools for professional board rework, but the enterprise also acts as a true professional where the economic viability of its application solutions is concerned. With its engineering work in the areas of rework and dispensing the company has, over decades, built a foundation for well-engineered, modular detail solutions at affordable cost. So the effective Hot Plate 04 unit is now available at the same price as the proven and popular Hot Beam 03.
