25 Years Travelling Into The Future |
Specialists in Rework and Dispensing Technology |
| Innovation, customer loyalty and staff motivation are today deciding competitive factors for European companies", according to Elke and Bernhard Martin, Directors of MARTIN GmbH, based in Wessling near Munich, Germany. MARTIN has often been prepared to be different - this willingness to take risks has paid off: today MARTIN, with a staff of 33, is among the technologically leading suppliers of Rework and Dispensing equipment for electronic assemblies. The success of the company is based on a mature balance between people and technology - all for the benefit of the customer.
Hand in Hand - Customers In Contact With MARTIN |
| "Not just having customers, but much more their successes, motivate us", says Bernhard Martin. "Our interest does not finish with the sale of a piece of equipment; a vigorous relationship between customers and our company is created. At the heart is a rapid and fair reaction when service is called for. We recognised this long before the 'Custer Relationship Management' buzz phrase was formulated", according to Martin. "And that is why for decades we have our own abbreviation: SPC - satisfied, paying customers. This means for us: individual support, sensible pricing, reliable products and rapid response to customer's needs"
Support and Service |
Here too the company is forward looking: "Train the Trainer" is the slogan of MARTIN's schooling which for more than 10 years has provided regular training for the national and international sales team. The MTC - Martin Training Centre - located in the company headquarters improves potentials. Technical interest of Sales Staff is converted into technological know how. This is how a rigorous service oriented structure is created, which provides a worldwide dealer network offering immediate and reliable technical support and service.
MARTIN is faithful to its customers and vice versa: customers appreciate the certainty brought about by the proven technology they are used to and the fast response to technological changes; not least the straightforward development of products that perform well.

Quality Through Attention To Detail |
| Fairness in relation to all business partners, customers, competitors and above all employees is at the top of the company's philosophy. "This philosophy underlies our mission statement", according to Elke Martin, "which highlights the cooperative approach to staff and suppliers". Open communication with all partners has advanced the imaginative strength of the organisation. This enabled courageous engineering achievements in the progressive development of equipment. Departure from familiar thought and behaviour patterns provides MARTIN with practical changes in direction and thereby distinct advantages in international markets.

Hot Air And Small Dots |
When Bernhard Martin jokingly refers to 'Hot Air And Small Dots' as a description of the company's activities he pinpoints its essence: MARTIN GmbH of Wessling is specialised in its two fields of expertise - Rework and Dispensing Technology. The permanent reductions in component sizes inspired the founder of the company in 1982, while still a student, to discover a promising new area of work, initially concentrating on dispensing technology and inventing an Adhesive Volume Measuring device. This technology of small dots opened a perspective on the repair of printed circuit boards.
1989 saw a further innovation for the SMD Market go into production: the DBL-01 was an in house developed micro processor controlled SMD Compact Unit, providing exceptional service in dispensing, picking & placing and soldering of PCBs. Today, the DBL-01, the pioneer from 1989 has long ago grown up. Through rigorous engineering development MARTIN now offers the fifth generation of this equipment, the DBL-05.
Step By Step Into The Future |
| In 1991 MARTIN created a novel key technology for SMD Rework: an innovative Infra Red Underheater. 1997 brought MARTIN's introduction of the Dot-Liner, a new standard for automatically dispensing microdots. In 2005 followed the launch of the new Auto-Vision-Expert 09.5, a semi automatic Rework Station for SMD components. Unique in the area of high precision placement technology. After more than 1000 sold AVP workstations this device has become the worldwide benchmark in the area of rework eg for repairing mobile phones and PC and Server boards.
Effective Rework With The New Expert-09.6 |
| MARTIN has this year introduced the 4th generation of the Auto-Vision-Placer: this workstation Expert-09.6 enables users to carry out the familiar activities of dispensing, picking & placing and soldering. The unit functions with an extremely high-resolution camera that allows users to precisely place even larger BGAs. The almost doubled accuracy of the camera places electronic components simply, quickly and automatically.
| |
| The Expert-09.6 is now also available with a Flip Chip kit, which enables the reworking of very small contact spacings down to 0.25mm. Customers especially appreciate that the equipment works almost completely maintenance free with very low running costs and represents a reliable companion for long-term rework provisions. Despite continuous technical progress MARTIN has been able to maintain a stable pricing structure, while at the same time reporting a turnover figure for the year 2006 of approximately €4 millions, of which 25% in Germany, 21% in the EU and 54% in the rest of the world.
Jumbo Underheater |
| For extra large Printed Circuit Boards MARTIN offers an even more powerful IR Underheater since Productronica'07. With 4800W this huge glowing infrared area can quickly heat up especially large and heavy PCBs and maintain a constant temperature for the rework process. Since the quality and reliability of reworked assemblies relies heavily on the treatment of the whole board the new IRF-07 is expected to proof itself invaluable for high density and high value assemblies.
| |
High-speed Soldering Programs |
| In future rework soldering will be able to carried out up to 30% faster. The new Easy-Solder Software 5.50 offers a technological leap forward: the patent applied for Rapid-Profile. This method, produced by the development team of the rework and dispensing specialists promises very fast and yet safe soldering profiles. MARTIN is again prepared to have the vision and to take the calculated risk of propelling SMD technology forward.
