MARTIN Gives Lead Free a Helping Hand |

With an extraordinary service the rework and dispensing specialist MARTIN now assist active reworkers of BGAs to CSPs with the Lead Free processing of printed circuit boards. All new customers receive the required Easy Solder Update without surcharge, all existing customers now receive the update (Version 4.00-> 4.76) free of charge. The first deadline for Lead Free production is already here - from the middle of 2004, the first step, according to MARTIN, means that all development work should be Lead Free.

| "Here at MARTIN responsibility for the environment is an integral part of company policy. Our developments are geared to being long term compatible with environmentally relevant requirements," says Bernhard Martin. In depth technical knowledge ensures safe and always controllable heating technology in rework. Years of experience with patented convection rework tools, together with area orientated IR underheating provide ideal prerequisites for successful development work in Lead Free. At the heart of the challenge are the facts that a smaller process window is available with, on the one hand, an increase in temperature of almost 30°C and, on the other, the components must not be damaged. Anyone who is familiar with MARTIN knows that they would not rest until the challenge of uniform temperatures in this restricted framework was met. A temperature tolerance of +/- 1 % for hot air, multi zone reflow profiles and area underheating are prerequisites for successfully accomplishing Lead Free development. |

| The new multi zone profile automatically ensures gentle temperature progression in four preheat, three soldering and two cooling zones with the Easy Solder Program. Temperature differences within components and overheating in the peak zone are thus avoided. The MARTIN Lead Free Solder Road shows this development with the higher temperatures and other processes. The automatic "accident free" guidance in the deciding reflow phase is visible and provides for confident rework. |
